Geographical location of the Monte Incudine
Firstly, you must go to Zicavo which is about 60 kms to the east of Ajaccio (a good hour in the car if you’re coming from Ajaccio). Follow the road, direction Aullčne just after exiting Zicavo. After a few kilometers along a winding road, take the first and only road on the left, the Saint-Pierre road (D428). Continue for a few more kilometers along a small road (not in good condition !) before reaching the sheep pens of Bassetta and a bit further on the chapel San Petru which is the starting point of the trek.
Tourist attraction of the Monte Incudine
The Coscione plateau at the foot of the Incudine is a paradise for mountain walkers. Its undulating landscape, its natural water springs and streams of clear water and finally, its green “pozzines” make this an exceptional site. 4 hours trekking before finally reaching the summit (2134m) because all the signs have been taken down !!! With the signs up, it’s feasible in 5h30 (there and back). At the summit, an extraordinary panorama of all of southern Corsica and even of the sea. Really excellent, but with the signposts virtually inexistent, I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have an IGN map.
